Plein Air Schedule
PURPOSE: To meet in a non-classroom setting; encourage spontaneous drawing, painting, reference photography, etc. of a variety of subjects; meet and learn from other artists; get helpful input on your work; inspire artists who have never tried painting outdoors; or just enjoy the fresh air and watch other artists until such time as your are inspired to participate.
Please refer to the May 2014 newsletter in the "Forms and Newsletters" tab for articles about what to expect and tips when you paint outdoors.
PLAN: To meet once a month (except in rain and uncomfortable heat) on the third Saturday of the listed months from 9:00am to noon.
SUGGESTED MATERIAL: Lawn chair, hard surface on which to paint, containers of water to use/drink, paper towels, brushes, paint, pencil, snack, camera, hat, sunscreen, bug repellent, and trash bag. Keep in mind having to carry it to location of chosen spot to paint.
LOCATIONS: A variety of beach, woods, marsh, quaint buildings, downtown villages, marinas, parks. Suggestions for locations are encouraged. Specific meeting places and maps will be email blasted by the Webmaster at least a week in advance.
TENTATIVE DATES (all Saturdays): 2018 - November 17 and December 15 (must rsvp due to holiday conflicts); 2019 - January 19, no February event due to conflict with Splash show, March 16, April 13
Dates are subject to change based on input from those interested in participating and on weather conditions. Those who wish to be notified of last minute cancellations must provide Barbara Rios with phone number. Specific meeting places will be manned each date until 9:15 am. Feel free to scatter from the meeting place to stake out your “spot”.
